Everyone just shows up in the same feed. USians are making posts in English alongside all the posts in Chinese. I've seen Chinese users making jokes like "Give me your data!" or "Welcome, I'm your new Chinese spy". I saw one comment on a post that read, "They better start posting in English soon." which, was getting heavily flamed. Lots of Luigi posting, it would seem. I also keep getting Chinese accounts posting a lot of really cool Socialist Realism art/propaganda posters, old and new. Lots of cringe USians making posts about being "refugees" on the app.

I think it's just whatever server runs the verification stuff is getting hit too hard. I had to resend the code a few times, but it eventually went through.

Yeah for sure. Probably Twilio or something. I actually got in a little while ago. I never went on TikTok so I'm new to the format and may not stick around. Definitely interested in the phenomena though, and the opportunity to peek into some Chinese internet culture.

I think the service that sends the text is overloaded. I had to try for 20min. I eventually got one. I got 2 more several hours later lol.

i replied to a post asking an american history phd about the difference between israel and the US regarding the greater israel project and manifest destiny and it was removed. dunno if OP can delete replies or not or only moderation can do it

I'm not sure, I haven't made any posts that resulted in comments, so I can't say. I have seen comments from Chinese IP addresses saying that talking about politics on the app isn't something they do. I don't believe that's a "rule" of the platform, but more of a social rule.
