Hi all -

I'm on an older laptop, from 2015, and will be upgrading earlyish next year to a new one. In the meantime, I am still on Windows 8.1 and would like to upgrade to either 10 or 11. By looking at the basic system requirements, I think I am good for either, but some stuff I read online said to use Health Check app to make sure. But the only version I can find of that app, on microsoft support site, says I need Windows 10 or higher jsut to install. Is there one that is compatible with 8.1?

Is there a way to check online, or to get that app, or anything else? For context, I've never needed to upgrade before, but just got a piece of software that requires at least Windows 10. I'm fine with 10 instead of 11 if it might run smoother on an older machine.

Would really appreciate any help here on this, as I don't want to assume it's fine to upgrade only to find out my machine can't handle 10. I don't know if I could even find 8.1 to reinstall thereafter if that happened.

For the record - these are my specs -

  • Processor - Intel Core i7-4510U [CPU@2.00GHz](mailto:CPU@2.00GHz)
  • RAM - 8 GB
  • 64bit OS, x64-based processor
  • Enough drive space to install (~40gb)

Thanks all!
