Of course he can't guarantee tariffs won't raise prices, because that's what they do. The companies impacted by those tariffs will not eat that hit - they will pass it on to all of us. It's essentially a tax he's arbitrarily adding.

So everyone enjoy the massive taxes he has decided to pass on to you, while giving his billionaire friends massive tax breaks. They aren't going to care, they can absorb it. Can you? Can your family?

What a bunch of fucknuts some of us are for putting this corrupt conman back in the white house.

Hope you will be happy with his stance on Gaza, it will be worse than the current administration, guaranteed.

Hope you will be happy with the price of goods and "inflation", you're about to have a nasty wake up call.

Hope you enjoy the climate, he's going to undo as much protections as he can, assisting in our push over the brink.

He's going to destroy so much. Hope you all are ready. Next time don't be apathetic and uneducated. Be informed and do your duty of voting. Vote country over party. Don't just listen to what news media wants you to hear. For fucks sake educate yourself like your life depends on it because it does.

Yeah, the entire purpose of a tariff is literally to make imported goods and resources more expensive.

And not just due to tariffs, but due also to the mass deportations that may now include entire families even if all but one are US citizens or otherwise here legally. Lots of those migrant laborers work farms, slaughterhouses, etc. for poverty wages. No fifth generation red blooded American is going to work in those conditions for so little money.

Seems like not a lot has changed since the abolition of slavery

"and that's what I would say if I ever met a conservative on Lemmy!"

"I might, you never know!"

So we have an incoming administration that:

  • Is focused on economic and legal revenge above serving the people
  • Is hell-bent on gutting the federal government and replacing experienced civil service staff with loyal, clueless lackeys
  • Wants to deport millions of illegal immigrants regardless of the economic consequences
  • Plans on disenfranchise millions of voters from both parties so it can create a theocratic autocracy
  • Doesn't understand how tariffs work but is determined to use them anyway
  • Has a leader who is in the pocket of a foreign enemy
  • Will lean heavily into energy strategies that focus on climate change denialism
  • Has a history of pissing off our allies and fawning over our enemies

And those are just the points that spring to mind. There's are plenty of other problematic points.

Yeah, this is all going to go down well, isn't it. /s

Almost as if he's a foreign asset who is committed to destroying America's economical power.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yup. They want to begin denaturalization processing ASAP.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

and like… talk to a naturalized citizen some time. listen to how they talk about their feelings toward america. they fucking love america in ways most of us can't fathom. they celebrate america as the magnificent land of opportunity it allegedly is because for them, it lives up to that.

that's who the new admin wants to get rid of. America's most dedicated patriots. people who loved america so much they were willing to renounce their previous country's citizenship in order to participate in our elections and contribute their tax dollars to the place they've made a new home.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 4 points 1 week ago

Pwnd teh libs tho.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

And the media covered it like a horse race and pretended it was totally normal to have a convicted felon who tried to overthrow the government run for president.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

And the US voting base stood up on November 5th and declared that yes, they'd like more of that.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago

The notion that "revenge prosecutions" are even something that is a possibility just shows how fucked things are.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago

That man sure is CEO material...

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago (4 children)

he's going to piss away his popular support in record time.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 39 points 1 week ago (1 children)

he's going to gain supporters. these maga fucknuts don't care what happens to themselves or their families or friends--as long as he 'hurts the right people', and there's a whole lot of hurt on the menu.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

This. Combined with the fact that the demons on the right will find a way to blame it on anyone but donvict and his idiot supporters.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 22 points 1 week ago

Probably not, he'll just blame all the problems he creates on other people - that's what narcissists do.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He campaigned on this. This is what his supporters want. He'll do this to the thunderous applause of the people he's hurting while they simultaneously blame Biden, brown people, and transsexual children for the problems that Trump is imposing on them.

[–] FahrenheitGhost@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Three years from now, well into his current term, his voters will STILL be slapping Biden "I did this!" stickers on gas pumps to protest high gas prices.

[–] IMongoose@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

It doesn't matter if they don't agree with him, they will still vote for him.

[–] Lasherz12@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Foxconn and Dell are no doubt going to love purchasing subpar American surface mount parts or pay a massive import for good ones.

[–] schizolol9@lemy.lol 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

We are trusting Donald Trump who has had 6 bankruptcies yeah we are gonna do well. We are so fucked!

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Who bankrupted casinos, which are designed to always create profits.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Become accustomed to hunger. Between him and climate change food won't be too affordable

[–] uebquauntbez@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Oh? What a surprise! Not.
