The fuck are we doing that for, shame on the U.S. We are literally helping them participate in genocide.

[–] Psychodelic@lemmy.world 37 points 11 months ago

We've been doing it for decades. Why stop now?

[–] iAmTheTot@kbin.social 14 points 11 months ago (2 children)

And helping them have things the USA doesn't have, like universal healthcare and education!

[–] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Bullshit argument. We can have universal healthcare for less than the cost of current for-profit medical care via insurance companies. Reason we don’t have it is rampant, unregulated capitalism and the corporate capture of government.

[–] iAmTheTot@kbin.social 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I wasn't making an argument, simply making a statement.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world -1 points 11 months ago

Excuse me, this is Lemmy and everything is an argument. Nice goal post shifting btw.

I think Israel has universal healthcare. Think about it

I feel like Biden is trying to do the thing from The Producers at this point. I don't know why, but his decisions in the last three months only make sense to me if for some reason he feels like he needs to lose the presidency as hard as possible.

I wish he would stop. He was literally my 10th choice in 2020, but I actually liked what he was doing for the first three years. And now it feels like he's trying to make Trump president again. Why??

They know US citzen don't have options because the alternative is going to fuck up things more.

What would be disgusting if Republicans win office democrat will start blaming them for Isreal Aid.

It is very clear that the US government is not working for it is own people but for Zainoist. I think american better go live there as well and get free new home, better food and climates, and free health care and education and not pay as much taxes.

[–] PoliticalAgitator@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

Probably lots of reasons, all of them fucked.

The main reason is probably money. There's no better way to turn billions of dollars of public funds into billions of dollars of private profits.

It also reassures neoliberals that for all his rhetoric about forgiving loans and improving healthcare access, he's still willing to kill children if there's money in it.

It's also a chance to show off the unstoppable force of American arms against people who are considered completely expendable to America.

[–] Bye@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

To maintain an allied power center in the region. Same reason the US colludes with the saudis.

Ukraine starving for old mortar shells and a few F16's. Meanwhile the IDF gets a boatload of F35's with bunker busters for free to blow up hospitals with.

[–] WindowsEnjoyer@sh.itjust.works 49 points 11 months ago

Ukraine did not invade russia after russia attacked Ukraine. Ukraine is simply trying to survive.

Israel on the other hand......

This is bullshit. Any additional support for israel is bullshit.

[–] HactaiMiju@lemmy.world 49 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Meanwhile they're restricting food and medical supplies for the people they're genociding 🙄

[–] sndmn@lemmy.ca 9 points 11 months ago

And killing journalists who might report on the other atrocities.

[–] Haagel@lemmings.world 43 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So excessive. I'm ashamed that my tax dollars have contributed to genocide.

[–] ripcord@kbin.social 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Contact your representatives and let them know, at least.

[–] JoJoGAH@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I lost the ability to comment on insta bc I commented in my representatives page. He is not only an elected representative, he is pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atl. This is the pulpit MLK led hia movement from. So yes, I am extra mad that he has not even made a statement. I have already done the emails, they don't care. So I figured a public comment on his insta post would stir something up, it did. Meta told me I'd be stfu for a while.

So once I was able to comment again I stated that meta can fuck right off and I'll be signing up for telegram. At least journalists can post freely there.

[–] Doorbook@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

I think naming and shaming would help.

Political support for Israel among the older generations, the people who vote.

[–] underisk@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago

The same zionists are on the ballot for both young and old people. Israel support is bipartisan; voting won’t stop AIPAC and the Zionist lobby from buying whoever you vote for.

[–] ThePythonist95@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 11 months ago

Thanks. But I mean, doing so does not really help in calming the tensions between the two involved in the war. I may be wrong, though.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago (1 children)

US Military Industrial Complex giveth (Ukraine), US Military Industrial Complex taketh (Israel)

[–] andrewrgross@slrpnk.net 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What's the difference between giveth and taketh? These both seem like taketh.

[–] lone_faerie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 11 months ago

They're giving Ukraine the ability to defend itself and taking away Palestine's ability to defend itself

[–] sndmn@lemmy.ca 12 points 11 months ago

Those refugee children aren't going to shoot themselves.

Fuck Israel. Damn the U.S. for just giving up a full Chaunakah wish list.

Leave religion & heritage out of it. This is standard issue geopolitics.

[–] rickdg@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Meanwhile, an orphan kid in Gaza wants to show Hamas his pet rock.

[–] MeanEYE@lemmy.world -4 points 11 months ago

People commenting here are assuming they know all the deals and treaties that USA has with any other country.
