Note that Trump announced his campaign super early because he wanted to paint the legal cases against him as political. This actually restricts how much he can fundraise from a given person.

So rather than try to expand his political appeal he is "selling" NFTs and tiny pieces of clothing for thousands of dollars to people who have already donated the maximum amount.

That illustration in the video is bonkers. Looks like someone asked an AI to make a mashup of Putin and Trump. Is that what Donnie thinks he looks like?

Oh, one more thing that comes to mind every time I see donnie diapers hawking his stupid wares to slack-jawed yokels. I'm reminded of "Bob". It's like someone took some of the satire of the Church of the Subgenius and made it a real thing. To wit, here are some famous quotes from "Bob":

Make them pay as much as they think they can afford.

You won't appreciate it if you don't pay for it.

You'd PAY to know what you REALLY think.

I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to!

Act like a dumbshit and they'll treat you like an equal.

Don't just eat that hamburger, eat the HELL out of it!

Everyone here is stupid.

You know how dumb the average person is? Well, by definition, half of 'em are even dumber than THAT.

I always lie . . . and I'm always right.

I mean, all of the CotS was about making fun of cults and religion, but...donnie's cult looks not that much different, except w/o any satire and without any humor. Especially when you add in the Qtarded stuff. Q reads like someone who tapped into CotS (or the Illuminatus Trilogy, etc.) and just did not get the joke, much like idiots that thought the Colbert Report was actually done to support right wingers...

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I read the Illuminatus trilogy when I was 23 (yeah I know) and for about 50 pages I almost believed it. Then I read the rest of the book and quickly realized it was satire (the golden submarine and Nazi Zombies are pretty big clues).

Trump's happy retirement, long dreamed of, where no one expects him to be anything but a grifter.

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

I'll gladly buy a piece of his orange suit for much more!

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago (2 children)

How desperate for money is he?

[–] ForestOrca@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

I could easily be that desperate. Heck, I'd sell you the whole suit for $5K.

I read that as "cut up pieces of shit" at first and fully expected his fans to buy it.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

If that doesn't reek of despair...

[–] digeridoo@lemmy.ml 5 points 11 months ago

Grifters going to grift... Can we stop fucking around and put this dude and his cronies behind bars. Common people see it, but he just keeps getting preferential treatment.

It's like a piece of the Shroud of Turin for the teabaggers.

[–] Rapidcreek@reddthat.com 4 points 11 months ago

Dimes to donuts that is just another old suit he grew out of.

[–] Treczoks@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Can't he just sell cut-off pieces of himself? I guess many of his MAGA-heads would love to have a pound of their idol at home. Just like people in medieval times took fingers of people that were hanged as trophies...

[–] qantravon@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I can totally seeing him pull a Ferengi after he dies and sell off dessicated pieces of his body. Except it will turn out they're fake.

When people start trying to figure out what part they got they will find out they all got a piece with no seams and the collective area is 3 standard rolls of suit fabric.
