I recommend other memers who feel similarly to place their activity in other meme pages around the fediverse.

I mean, Lemmy.ml chose the ml domain because it was free and it's also short for Marxism-Leninism. I'm sure if they could've gotten MLM they would've. I stay away from Lemmy.ml communities on principle because of that.

@PugJesus me too. If there's on other servers I go there. lemmygrad and lemmy.ml are servers owned by the same people who created Lemmy itself. When you get your first ban over practically noyhing (as I was in the past) this means that this is the server's policy.

(And yes, Lemmy creators are hardcore commies, but they candy wrap their server as being something general, while supressing any opinion that doesn't fit their tankie narrative)

Let's not conflate communism with stalinists

[–] petrescatraian@libranet.de 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

@boredtortoise I heard multiple times phrases like this. While I do agree that there is a difference between the two, the line between them seems to be a really fine one. There wouldn't have been stalinism without communism and all the bad things that the communism was responsible for (i.e. political repression, power concentration in the hands of a few people, complete disregard of private property, the lack of a freedom of speech - yes, free speech, not freeze peach) happened outside of the Stalin era in all the "socialist" countries.

It might be that the stalinist sect and its totalitarian relatives did as much harm to communism as the CIA

They are the same thing

I really do not mind other points of view, but as far as politics go when you choose one (form of government) over another and it becomes your whole persona, then (IMO) you are the product of that form of governments propaganda...and a weak minded diaper filled silly person.

The tankies and the weirdo fetish porn are the actual worst parts of Lemmy. Thank fuck for blocking by community/user on Connect.

[–] bl4ckblooc@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can someone fill me in? I just scrolled their top posts from today and everything looked normal and non genocide denialist.

Nobody is going to take us leftist seriously with these mofos being so historically illiterate and apologist to mass murderers. Why do ya'll have to circlejerk same dead men all the time, can't ya'll like develop nuanced critique of current technological capitalist system on ya'll own?

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I generally align with the left on most issues, and seeing the extremist propaganda all over the fediverse has without question pushed me towards the right.

I see why people say Hexbear is a bunch of right wingers masquerading as leftists.

[–] S13Ni@lemmy.studio 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, for some I might be hardcore leftist radical, and generally hold many anticapitalist, anticonsumerism sentiments. However reading opinions of these people, I can't see how world order they are proposing would be any better for anyone, except for those on the top, just like we have now. I also hate the assumption that communist society would be inherently more ecological than capitalist one, or more eqalitarian, like these people seem to think.

Reading pro soviet stuff is also infuriating for me as someone living in Finland, usually shit takes that totally oversimplify history of my country. Same thing with anti NATO stuff, I am not generally too fond of NATO but I am still OK with Finland joining cause, uuum have you notice there is fascist country right next to us that seems to have no problem attacking neighbouring countries, that are not in NATO.

Unfortunately this kind of nuance is impossible to these chronically online people, who just make up shit to justify their agenda. They just think we will have leftist revolution and then everything will be alright, instead of considering for one second how all this would play out in real life.

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I completely agree with you except one thing.

chronically online people

I think a lot of them are LLMs, not real people.

[–] jayrodtheoldbod@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We have to be a lot more vigilant about bots now, don't we? Not just on Lemmy, but everywhere.

It's going to be bots talking to bots pretty soon, once everyone figures out that yeah, everyone but me is probably ChatGPT. People are already moving toward closed group chats. Open social media is just too damn toxic for too many reasons.

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah pretty much. Seems like most people don't realize yet.

[–] S13Ni@lemmy.studio 2 points 1 year ago

LMAO tankieGPT. Maybe some are, but there's still plenty off people who actually think that way, I saw them online way before LLMs were a thing.

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What Stalin apologist memes? I’m not seeing them. Maybe they’re being posted by someone I’ve already blocked?

[–] Roundcat@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 year ago

A lot of the post come from lemmygrad and hexbears posters, which are blocked by many instances, thus not visible to everyone. As a kbin user, I see them frequently.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 year ago

Lemmy ml is communist and should be avoided if possible. I have seen plenty of comments on other communities that complain of "pro capitalist ideas".

[–] yamapikariya@lemmyfi.com 2 points 1 year ago

I've said it a while ago, memes here are better than at lemmy.ml or lemmy.world

Complicit, more like
