Just wanted to share a thread for those who don't regularly venture out of the bear site. Can't cross-post since it's defederated. It's small but has some numbers about community counts, active users, etc and links to more info from https://lemmyverse.net/. Thought it was notable that Hexbear shows up no matter how you sort it.

OP image is community count sorted by active users in the last month.

Edit: sorted by comments

Half the thread is "I have never interacted with Hexbear but they are literally the worst instance and I'm so surprised they exist"

The funniest part of that is all the people who think we're a bunch of uneducated kids who base our opinions on nothing, while fully admitting they have never interacted with us at all. Yes I see. Tell me more about making opinions on something you know nothing about bean-think

We are more well read than just about every single frothing liberal and chud lemmitor. Not that that’s a high bar to clear or anything.

I read state and revolution 1 and a half times

[–] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I've said it before and I'll say it again - reading one piece of leftist theory makes you more politically educated than like 90% of Americans.

Bit sad innit

reading one piece ~~of leftist theory~~ makes you more politically educated than like 90% of Americans.

I'm finishing the Marinefort arc.

is-this is this Lenin?

[–] hypercracker@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (4 children)

yeah the accusations that we were born after 9/11 just do not hit, all reddit-styled forums (especially the fediverse) are skewed toward olds

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (3 children)

CTH is famously an elder millennial fanbase too. Average Chapo fan age is certainly higher than the average Reddit user age

I remember the thread where we just posted Bush-era image macros. It's just the continuation of Something Awful - Twitter - here.

They say that because we post like zoomers and gen-a (not really we just aren't baffled by their memes).

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

In the vein of "only a Chinese or Russian person could be disagreeing with me right now about China or Russia" comes the new "only one of those dang kids today could be disagreeing with me right now about how kids today suck."

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

My favorite thing is them believing that everyone from Russia or China must have hated it there, and while there are some expats that are like that, most of the ones I've met (outside of Indians) really like or miss their country of origin. I'm not saying they are perfect (far from it) but they seem like no more totalitarian hellholes than the U.S.

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (5 children)

Also you are talking to ex pats and emigrants who are predisposed to disliking their home country.

All the Chinese people who really like China stay there and don’t go on the English speaking internet to argue

"That’s doomer speak from too much scrolling. I once too believed these things for a time but the world hasn’t ended, improved even. I am no longer as depressed and regained clarity of mind. I hope you too can find peace and see the reason before all the time dwindles out like a sand from between your fingers.

I am typing it lying on my huge bed, with cat at my side, full fridge, iPhone, iPad, car with full tank in the garage, 100 sqm apartment I own in the comfy part of the city. Steady, mostly passive income. Free healthcare working ok, education.

They're anti communist because they're bourgeois

Everyone I Don't Like Is Mentally Ill, A Bedtime Story For Brunch Liberals maybe-later-kiddo 🍷🍷 maybe-later-honey

(It really is fucked up how many smug internet people like to imply mental illness, or any other personal disadvantage, means a person is fundamentally wrong about everything and should be unheard and invisible. Fucking Calvinist shit)

Damn I’m shocked how small hexbear is, if I’d had to guess I woulda thought you guys were like 30% of the fediverse. How does 98% of the shitposting and best reaction gifs come from 2% of the user base? Touch grass sometimes, damn lmao

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

Our posting power levels are just unmatched.

It's cause this community is only one of very few on the Internet so there's more concentrated time if we want this particular environment

Whereas the user base and culture of most other Lemmy instances can be found in many places

We are powerful

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

This has gotta be by sub count not posts or comments.

Same thing would happen on reddit when they'd post graphs of most "active" subredidts and people would be confused about why 2000 people on a subreddit about an obscure political podcast had more discussion than the NBA subreddit.

[–] Inui@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (5 children)

Someone posted this for comments.

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

Literally 10 to 1 let's go.
