What are some good multiplayer games to play on the steam deck? They can be online or offline games.

Ultimate Chicken Horse has quickly become the goto-local-multiplayer in my group.

The game design is so devilishly elegant: you co-create 2D jump&run levels. Together you want to make them so easy that at least one player can finish the level (and get points), but also hard enough that not all of the group get through (no one gets points).

It’s great. Will most likely be on sale. Don’t sleep on it!

Ah! Will need to check it out. We should play a round one day!

I’ve been playing Deep Rock Galactic with my friend. It’s been really fun.

Works great on deck apart from small text sometimes being a problem.

You can rig up one of the touch pads to work as a magnifier. Then you can thumb over what ever area you want to read.

[–] s12@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

I think it works like that anyway by default.
STEAM + L1.

Small text is still a pain though.

As a local multiplayer/couch coop fan, I really like Gang Beasts, Stick Fight The Game, Untitled Goose Game, Nidhogg (2)

[–] Secret300@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

I like the first one a lot more, nidhogg

Stardew Valley, possibly factorio (don't k ow about the custom control scheme, the game is great), trackmania, borderlands 2, plate up, gang beasts, and the jackbox party games.

How do you normally get these games up and running in multiplayer? I’m new to steam deck.

[–] Secret300@sh.itjust.works 1 points 10 months ago

Start the game. Select multiplayer or just start the game and invite friend

I like Omega Strikers for my deck. It's like 3v3 pong with hero abilities.

Most online games aren't casual enough for me to enjoy on controller, and even with co-op games I can't often play on the same level as with KBM.

Helldivers would work though.

[–] Lipriv30@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago

Never heard of this. Will look out for Omega Strikers. Thank you.

If you mean COOP Story then the Borderlands Games have been a Bladt lately especially Tiny Tina Wonderlands Ultimate(Verified) for 10 bucks.

What's the audience and which games do you already like??

It's too wide of a net to cast over ALL multiplayer games.

[–] Lipriv30@lemmy.ml -1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It’s an open question so feel free to answer how you like. There’s no right or wrong answers.

[–] lowleveldata@programming.dev 1 points 11 months ago

This is the equivalent of "idk anything is fine" when you ask them what they want for dinner

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de -1 points 11 months ago

You just gave a wrong answer. Don't even know if you want local multi-player, something like two player, or something like WoW.

[–] Lipriv30@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago

This is good. Thank you.

Rocket League is a good choice if you're new to the game, like I was. It works perfectly through heroic if you don't have it on steam

Sea of thieves also runs great

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Old brawlers like King of Dragons through an emulator or Capcom Arcade Classics
  • TMNT Shredders Revenge
[–] Lipriv30@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You can play Mario kart’s multiplayer on the steam deck? How do you enable multiplayer for the capcom arcade classics and TMNT ?

[–] raptir@lemdro.id 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah, Yuzu has online multiplayer emulation via local WiFi, or you can just do two controllers.

Shredders Revenge has online and local multiplayer.

I know Capcom has local, not sure about online.

Valheim if you want action, building, or relaxing things like chopping wood and breaking rocks. In more of a boardgame direction, there's Sagrada, Dominion, Takenoko, Carcassonne, Istanbul, or Splendor. All of which I have played on my SD multiplayer. Usually these games end up using the left stick and the right track pad as the mouse, which seems to work fine for me.
