Person who clearly really cares: "No one cares that you do thing"

[–] wallmenis@lemmy.one 50 points 6 months ago (1 children)

He has probably seen countless people starting to use linux and is pissed by the percieved popularity.

[–] KyuubiNoKitsune@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 6 months ago (5 children)

Nah, it's just annoying seeing it in SO many conversations. It doesn't add anything to the conversation, it's just some weird bragging.

[–] SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone 51 points 6 months ago (1 children)

btw did you know I use Linux :p

[–] KyuubiNoKitsune@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 6 months ago (4 children)

Woah! That's so cool dude! How are the Bluetooth and Nvidia drivers on that... ;)

[–] SqueakyBeaver@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 6 months ago

I'm using bazzite, so I've had absolutely no issues (note that I have an Intel iGPU bc shitty laptop)

[–] priapus@sh.itjust.works 13 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Both are great! I'm using a bluetooth 8BitDo controller with a bluetooth wireless keyboard to game on my 1080TI :)

I get what you're trying to do here but the thing is, bluetooth and nvidia are terrible on every platform tbh... At the very least, nvidia laptops on Windows for my friends haven't been as stable as my AMD laptop on Arch has been for me. I hear nvidia on desktop is solid, so that might be the issue here though. Which also reminds me, nvidia on Linux isn't really an issue anymore, they work as well as their windows counterpart basically and nearly every distro makes them really easy to install.

And Bluetooth on Linux right now is just as terrible as on Windows, which is to say, it works pretty well.

If I see a post of weird bragging that I don't care about I personally don't feel the need to reply to them to let them know that I don't care. I just keep scrolling.
If the weird bragging was happening enough to annoy me then I would down vote and keep scrolling.

Do you want a medal? Do you feel special?

Do you want a medal?

Sure, what does it look like?

What do you mean superior complex? I am superior

[–] FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world 43 points 6 months ago

Superior complex? I find it quite simple

[–] S_H_K@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 6 months ago

There is no complexity I'm simply superior.

[–] alsaaas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 131 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Imagine internalizing Microsoft/Apple abuse so deeply that you get angry at ppl who don't want any of that shit

[–] Psychodelic@lemmy.world 23 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Yeah, I've actually been looking into trying Linux as my entire personality as well

[–] TheControlled@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago

Seems like they get allllllll the babes, amirite?

[–] alsaaas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (2 children)

wdym? or rather what are you referring to? (sry am a bit dense sometimes)

like as long as you are not the "basement-dwelling (arch) elitist" stereotype, advocating for free/libre software is pretty cool imo

(also did you just say Linux when referring to desktop? insert "actually what are you referring to as Linux is in fact GNU/Linux" copypasta here /j)

I had someone tell me that I was doing exactly that this weekend when I wrote a forum post and feedback submit to the company I buy my keycaps from for a 1.5u Tux or Logo key option rather than the windows 10 logo they currently offer.

I figure they'll offer at least their logo as that'd sell really well (glorious, look em up for why), but having someone reply that I needed to not make Linux my whole life was weird

[–] sunoc@sh.itjust.works 103 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Windrones coping is always fun to see

[–] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 79 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Not sure it's cope as much as being unable to accept that their attempted put down is having no effect. Bully is in their own head about their inability to get under someone's skin.

A raging douche.

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 35 points 6 months ago (1 children)

You basically explained that it is coping?

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 8 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

cope /kōp/

intransitive verb

  1. To contend or strive, especially on even terms or with success.

    "coping with child-rearing and a full-time job."

  2. To contend with difficulties and act to overcome them.

  3. To form a cope or arch; to bend or arch; to bow.

As a foreigner it’s really jarring seeing this verb adopting a new meaning of “failing to cope”. I’ve seen it many times, it’s definitely not you and not new, but it does make the English language just a tad more inaccessible.

[–] alsaaas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 months ago (5 children)

it's mostly just internet lingo. English is not my native language either and I sometimes have the opposite problem: I know/use the internet definition/meaning but not the "official" one lol

Urban Dictionary is your friend in such cases, that's where I usually go for stuff like this

Every time I have to get to UD, though:

Ultimately, both of those commenters are annoying. Saying "I use Arch btw" is a useless self-serving statement that provides no benefit or information to the audience. But engaging with that message in the manner displayed is also pointless and stupid, even if the statement is correct.
The saving grace for the "Linux user" commenter is that they are self aware about being annoying, judging by their last comment. So hopefully they were just being ironic. Or rage baiting.

I use(d) Arch, btw.

[–] olutukko@lemmy.world 51 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I don't know, I think it was pretty fun trolling after someone coming to say something as dull as "you want a medal or something"

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Sure. But the original statement is just as dull. Assuming no specific context.

[–] gingernate@lemm.ee 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Made sense after watching the video the comment was made on(if it really is the right video)

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I checked the video and found the comment. Commenting about using Linux on that video is the equivalent of finding a turkey recipe and commenting "No thanks, I'm a vegan" on it. Then why did you open this video?!

[–] gingernate@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago

Hahahahah yeah yeah you make a very valid point

[–] Jumuta@sh.itjust.works 22 points 6 months ago

I (can't figure out if I'm) us(ing th)e( correct drivers on) Arch, btw.

[–] uis@lemm.ee 21 points 6 months ago (1 children)

My comment is still being compiled

[–] verdare@beehaw.org 12 points 6 months ago

If it makes you feel any better, same username but different instance, so you didn't get any of the UI (web or app) flags to show you they were OP. I woulda totally made the same mistake.

Ohhhh I am sooo impressed! Have you also downloaded the classified instruction manual for Linux from Linus Torvald's website, took a correspondence course in machine code, translated the manual, memorized it, and eaten it? Have you Danfg7215? Torvald?
