MODERATORS

With the constant growth of our mod team and the demanding nature of actually having lives outside of niche internet communities, Ada and I have come to the decision that the mod team once again needs to expand.
Applications work the same way they did the last two mod calls:
Post a brief write-up on yourself and why you think we should give you moderator status, as well as a link to at least one other social media account. (reddit, twitter, instagram, facebook, mastodon, tumblr, bluesky are all accepted.) If you don't want your alts to be public, you can send them as a private DM to me. Applications don't have a fixed close date, but we're looking for at least four new mods in multiple time zones.

I will be personally selecting all new additions to the mod team. Please be civil, and good luck!

How many characters would I be moderating? I believe in structured moderation, where I am only required to monitor the interactions of the same 32 or so characters in this community. Moderators under this system work together by not monitoring each other's characters. So, that works out to a strict 32:1 character:mod ratio.

I have no life outside of Lemmy. I'm obviously the best choice.

Hi, I'm BST (GMT+1) and would like to take part. I have pretty good moderation experience, I'm Community Manager at Nucleoid, and have been moderating Minecraft servers on and off since 2019. I am also a moderator of the Alternative Nation community as well as CD collectors!

Hi, I'd like to help out with moderation. I'm currently also moderating !videos@lemmy.world, !netherlands@lemmy.world and a few others. I am 1 hour ahead of UTC and active throughout the day. I've been on mastodon since 2019, but I'm not that active there. I prefer the way Reddit/Lemmy works. I still have an account on Reddit and an alt on lemmy.blahaj.zone (@qaz@lemmy.blahaj.zone), but I rarely use them.

So, I would like to keep 196 free of harassment and people called Thulean.

If I can stop random floods of dick pics by drunks, I'm down. Also, let's make this a public application, shall we?

My social media handle is common between Lemmy and Reddit, so no hiding there. I was a mod of /r/Chameleons for a while, as well as some other subs. Needless to say, reptile owners are a unique breed and have even delt with just about every type of human.(My account on Reddit is stale and I quit /r/Chameleons during the third-party app exodus. My main function was to shut down user-user conflict and coordinate with other mods during brigading events, which were more common on reptile subs than you would think.)

I am very active on Lemmy and I'll use an alt for any modding stuffs, specific to the community and instance. (I am mostly instance agnostic, but for my daily driving I use lemmy.ca and haven't had a need to use any other one yet. lemmy.world was annoying, so I moved my "main" account after a short trial.)

Also, I like long walks on sandy beaches just before sunset. That puts my formal modding hours between 11PM and 6AM UTC but I do check Lemmy throughout the day.

Unless its an active troll pushing state funded propaganda, I can roll with just about anything within the laws of the land. Modding 196 could be fun, but I'll just resign the position myself if it doesn't work. No hard feelings.

[OMG UR HIRED / wut?] -- Circle one choice.

Did you gain the ability to rotate your eyes independently

[–] Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm interested, but I worry I might not consistently have enough uptime. What would be the expectations, kinda?

[–] moss@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Basically just help out when you have the time. If you're really interested, just write up an application as a reply to this post/comment

[–] Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Take into account the time it has taken me to respond, and the fact that I have absolutely zero prior experience, but if you do still need anything little extra, I'd love to help.

My timezone is utc+3 (summer time), and if you do still want help, tell me so I dm you my socials.

Otherwise, stay strong, and keep keeping this place cool!

What does a moderator actually do?
