What do you guys think was the intention with this? I recently had an episode of mania, and was behaving a bit oddly, but I confirmed with my mother (this was her condo I'm renting it) that it wasn't here when she left and I've never seen it before :|

People sometimes do this to scout easy targets to rob.

If it didn't move until their next burglary spree, you probably haven't been home since they planted it.

Put it away and ask around if your neighbours had something out of place in their front yard.

Thought so, I had just been out of town for that solar eclipse in Texas. Pretty wonky experience during totality, felt like the eye of God was looking at me and telepathy-ing me. I went to the EDM festival with a friend of mine that has been a pysche ward nurse in the past and she didn't say anything til I was home for a day. Good chance I didn't notice it until I was doing mania stuff and went "wat this rock".

Perhaps your subconscious has noticed other signs of potential trouble from whoever left the rock, leading to hyper vigilance as a defense measure, which has a lot of overlap with mania.

Your manic episode could have been triggered by the adrenaline and norepinephrine release of the hypervigilant state.

If you already struggle with some form of mental illness, it’s probably best to assume that you’re being irrational, rather than ascribe any meaning to this particular thing. There is a lot of random stuff that happens, and you could project meaning onto any of it to create a narrative. Unless you have a good reason to believe that a specific person or group is messing with you (not just a vague sense of unease) then it’s very likely that it means nothing.

Seems like op is trying to do that by sanity checkinh with others though, think that's a good idea

Okay that looks like a rock with a striation in it. They form in nature when a pebble is formed from a piece of rock that had several layers in it.

HERE are some more colourful ones.

Sometimes one of the layers is softer and crunbles leaving a "carved out" look.

You're probably just noticing it for the first time. Maybe it used to be up the other way and was disturbed by an animal or bird.

[–] FunkyMonk@kbin.social 9 points 9 months ago

yeah; it looks natural to me. Might of just never been flipped to that side. Always finding trippy rocks in the garden here because house used to be near a riverbed, bits of quartz in them and such.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

That looks natural. For proof chip it or break it in half to confirm the striation goes all the way through

Are there children in your neighborhood? There is no reasonable answer for the weird, goofy shit kids do. It's probably meant to be your weapon when Burger King and Ronald McDonald create an alien race to take over the world. Their trying to offer you an opportunity to save yourself.

First, where do you get a rock rock.

Second, I'm pretty sure that's to rile you up. Pick it up, piss on it, mark it in sharpie with a "fuck you" then reverse what I just said and place exactly where you found it.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

“fuck you” is too on the nose. It’s basically the confirmation the riler wants.

Put a single dot on the bottom in sharpie, just small enough that the person won’t know if it was already there and they missed it, or if OP put the dot there.

Then place it exactly back where it was before, and pretend to not have noticed it.

That, or replace it with as similar a rock as possible.

If it's the rock with the calcite or quartz circle, and if we ascribe any cultural/spiritual meaning to it, the closest I can think is you found a wishing stone.

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

What do you mean by a “line circle”?
