Oh it gets better, the dude who was the “architect” of the “legal” coup strategy just got elected Speaker! This is fine…

Yup... dude also thinks abortion providers should be sentenced to hard labor. Republicans are going completely mask off. If they win big in the midterm election America is quite literally fucked.
We were already fukt when RBG decided to die in office rather than step down.
If one day a single democrat is trying to storm the capitol, he will get shot 23 times and be called a terrorist. All his family will be persecuted by crazy hats. You accepted their crazy extremist behavior and the know it. These guys just hijacked democracy to forcepass one of their guy despite an internal vote. I will tell you from an outside perspective, you guys are going right into fascism next time Trump is elected. He won't leave twice. You're going to be the baddies.
Republicans love de facto gun control. They'll have the cops kill every armed PoC no matter how lawfully they were armed, and then acquit the killer cops.
We're long past soap box and poll box, the fascists are using the jury box, and you'd have us give those same fascists exclusive rights to the ammo box.
Disarming the public can only be beneficial in a functioning democracy. The people to whom you'd give exclusive access are the same people who are currently murdering us.
Slightly conflicted because I agree with the sentiment, but this is hardly a meme and has no humor to it.
I think people now think memes are simply any image with text on it, which is not accurate.
Technically it wasnt a meme till I uploaded it to lemmy. The definition of a meme is:
I think that "spread" in that definition is meant to be past tense. Posting an image, at least originally, didn't make it a meme. What made it a meme was people resharing over and over to the point it was like an icon that most people knew. Like Rick rolling was a meme. Whereas the billions of other posts that year which weren't popular, were not.
Almost like a memetic virus, eh?
Memes dont have to be funny...
Yeah this belongs in its own channel (political memes or something)
You know what they're afraid of more.
First time?
Unfortunately its not, shit is getting old to say the least.
Mfw I remember Democrats had the majority in the Senate and the house as well as a SCOTUS that would back them, but they didn't codify Roe v Wade.
Surely electing Democrats will fix the problem, right? 😅
...
...right? 😰
...
This assumes that the mass shootings are a problem that they'd want to solve, but it's not since mass shootings are useful to them. They're flashy, get lots of media coverage, and feed a sense of chaos and societal breakdown. With that, they make the case the current system can't keep you safe, and we need an authoritarian to bring order, which they're happy to provide.
When they make Internet legislation to "protect the children", but won't legislate guns to actually protect the children.
I mean hopefully this clown show that is a Republican congress will hurt them in 2024. They aren’t competent.
cowards
Republicans or Democrats, doesn't matter.
They're still a bunch of clown politicians more focused on saving their own ass then doing what's right.
Y'all can down vote all you want, but deep down you know it's true.
Mfw the liberals who acknowledge that the Republicans are fascists want only the fascists to have guns (if you think gun control will be enforced by fascist cops to disarm their fascist buddies you've got another thing coming)
Mfw liberals don't acknowledge that mass shootings are caused by white supremacy, misogyny, and abuse culture in addition to guns because they don't want to or are incapable of addressing white supremacy, misogyny, and abuse culture, but they are capable of pushing gun control (that doesn't prevent mass shootings (see my first point) but does further criminalize poc, poor people, queer people, and women owning guns)
Mfw liberals have never heard of the mulford act and understood its political implications
Mfw liberals haven't read any anti-colonial history or civil rights history, even basic stuff like "this nonviolent stuff will get you killed" which shows how an armed movement has been necessary for both violent and nonviolent liberatory movements
The best cure to liberalism is picking up a book on the history of liberation movements that isnt full of whitewashed US history class bullshit.
Do you honestly want Republicans to pass gun control? What do you think a republican gun control bill would look like?
Do you think Republicans are capable of addressing mass shootings? They are literally caused by things that benefit Republicans and democrats
I know Republicans are incapable of doing anything, that's why I pinch my nose and vote blue, while trying to build class conciousness on the ground. The Prolitariat cant flourish if the party in power are actively genociding trans folks and minorities. The Republicans have gone so mask off, its impossible to not vote for the lesser of the 2 evils and have a clean concious. At least for myself anyway.
The Prolitariat cant flourish if the party in power are actively genociding trans folks and minorities.
Democrats are also actively genociding minorities, the concentration camps and wars are bipartisan.
I've said nothing in my previous comments about voting. For me I do not see it as significant enough of a political act to bother discussing.
