After this setup has had its old paintjob almost entirely worn off, I recently repainted it.

The ACOG is a TA31, one of the old styles which lacks the ears for mounting a piggyback red dot. On top is a Sig Romero Zero-R on a ring mount which was surprisingly difficult to get my hands on.

As people may note, there are no BUIS. It took me a long time to be okay with removing them, but doing so allowed the ACOG to be fully at the rear of the rail, making it easiest for me to see through. This is a decision I occasionally think about trying to change with perhaps offset BUIS, but so far the ACOG has not let me down.

Of all the things with which to get rid of BUIS, I feel like an ACOG makes the most sense, just going by reputation.

The paint looks nice :)

I have a rifle with an LPVO, and it’s BUIS free. I’ve lived so long under the yoke of “every rifle get irons” that I can relate to it being difficult to finally just trust your optic

Let’s be clear though, I’d only do this with a well tested optic with an etched reticle that’s at least visible in daylight conditions.
