It's brought me joy in life and I've learned so many new things. How cool is it that we get to enjoy all of this cool stuff for free (as in cost) and free (as in freedom)?

Just don't try to debate politics unless you already subscribe to the prevailing groupthink. In fairness, that's true of any social-media forum, and the corporate ones have other problems on top.

Fortunately "groupthink" on the fediverse isn't a structural problem since nobody controls all instances and every instance has different moderation styles.
