The news of the divorce could complicate Ken Paxton's run for U.S. Senate, where he is seeking to topple longtime incumbent John Cornyn in what is expected to be a gruelling Republican primary next year.

Doubt. The worst thing about the entire Republican base is that they hide behind Christian "forgiveness" as a justification for how shallow their value system is. They don't actually care, but it's easy enough to say "he's made a mistake, and we need to forgive him!"

I mean, look at Roy Moore. Even with the accusations floating around and admitting he dated teenagers he won the primary and then only lost the actual election by 20,715 votes out of 1,344,406 votes cast.

They have no morals, they have no values, they do not care who "their team" hurts. They will vote Republican no matter who as long as (they think) it serves their interests. They will hide behind a thin veneer of Christian forgiveness as they have for decades now.
