Not sure if it is like that because I'm in Korea, but on my Samsung S9 Samsung is injecting ads for their new S24 in my notifications. I've had the phone for 5 years and this is the first time I see ads in my phone notifications, unbelievable.

Custom ROMs FTW... no, seriously, most samsung phones have support for at least some custom ROMs and GSIs so it might be worth it to take a look at the options available for your device

What about the camera? That's the only real problem for me.

It's alright, not as good as stock by default (unless you're using ncx which is oneui but not sh!t) but there are ways to improve it (using a custom version of gcam)

... and again. Not the same.

Do not get me wrong. I used to love custom ROMs since the days of android 1.6.

But if I pay 500€ and more for a phone I would not risk to unlock the bootloader. For my specific device (Samsung A52s) the camera app does not even open if I unlock the bootloader using the stock ROM.

Unfortunately it is not feasible for every day use. Camera, payments, netflix...

For an old phone, yes. It's a good idea.

My phone is an A52s 5G and I got it specifically because you can mod it to oblivion, this phone has a huge modding community atm. Most ROMs include a workaround for netflix and as I stated above, there are ways to make the camera just as good as stock (I haven't bothered, as imo the custom ROM's camera is good enough), and as for payments... Yeah, got nothing there, GWallet used to work but google has been actively fighting against it, so it doesn't anymore. I, personally am more than willing to drop GWallet to use a custom ROM... The amount of customization, community support, no fcking ads in the quick access menu and the knowledge that it's my phone, I choose what is installed on it and what isn't and unlimited GPhotos storage via a trick that most custom ROMs use is just way too good to pass on...

E: Idk wym by "camera doesn't open if I unlock the bootloader" seems to work fine for me on CrDroid (custom ROM). Amd my question is, why would you use the stock rom if you've already went through the effort of unlocking the bootloader, OneUI sucks...

Imo it's a good idea on any phone. Period. It's MY phone, I BOUGHT it, I get to choose how long it gets updates for, what is installed and what happens to it, NOT samsung or the ISP...

E2: You got seriously ripped off, if you paid 500 Euro for an A52S

spoilerAlso netflix 💀
