I work on a ship, which means I can't have a PC. I have an old lenovo legion laptop but it takes up a lot of space in a cramped cabin. And after a long day I just want to stay in bed.

After my last contract I knew I would spend close to two days travelling, so when I saw a steam deck for sale for a good price, I bought both it and most cancelling headphones. I set up the steam deck and got to downloading games (the free internet in Singapore is great). I had been planning to sleep during the following flight but I barely felt the 10 hours. I completely drained three battery banks.

Having GTA V in the palm of your hands is something I wouldn't even dream of a few years ago. And FTL runs for like 8h. I know I won't even take my laptop on my next contract. If anything, I'll buy some kind of ultrabook that's as slim as possible, just to watch movies.

I don't know what kind of black magic valve had to do, but it's incredible how seamless switching the device to standby and then back on again is. It's one button and it just works! I only turn the device off when there's a software update.

All in all, if I could go back, I would tell past me not to overthink it and to just buy a steam deck as soon as it goes on sale.

This is a joke post.

I'm 30+ and I've been overworked as fuck for the last 2 months. So one evening I said you know what, I'm gonna do a present to myself. As a typical impulsive buyer, I researched for around 15-30 minutes and then buying + the docking station.

And dudes, due to burnout, I kid you not - I checked the shipment tracking about 50-60 times per day. For some reason Steam Deck is something I got incredibly hyped for, even though I've been rarely gaming for the last years due to working. Right now I've bought 2-3 games and I'm not touching them JUST to get to experience them in Steam Deck for the first time.

I'm in the state in which I want to sleep just for the Steam Deck to arrive.

Now for the fun parts - The packet is legit avoiding me. First of, there are delays to my country as a whole, so right now it's 10 working days since my order. I've contacted the shipping company to go over and pick it up when it arrives and when i went yesterday, the said they already gave that to a driver. Then after ~2-3 hours the drivers come by, having only the docking station. At this point I'm questioning whether I actually bought Steam Deck or my device got lost.

After that I noticed that for some weird reason the docking station and Steam Deck was in 2 separate packages. So I contact them again in order to pick it up when available and they said sure, come tomorrow morning. I go over 1 hour earlier than they requested, and they again handed it over to a driver.

At this point I feel like that everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I just hope it arrives and it's not broken. I wouldn't be surprise if it's a box of confeti inside the package.

I know my feeling are a mix of an overworked person trying to find a way to relax, and also the joke that is the communication with this shipment company. But noticing that I react like a 15yo who just waits for the new toy, I find myself very funny.

Hi there!

I'm super excited to share that I just got my 1 TB OLED Steam Deck, and the best part? It essentially cost me nothing but my time!

Back in 2018-2019, I used to play a lot of CS

and would get random case drops every week. Most of the cases were worth around $0.03-$0.05, but occasionally, I’d get lucky with cases worth $5 or even $20. Instead of selling them right away, I started hoarding them. Over time, I accumulated a pretty solid collection.

One day (I don’t remember the exact date xD), I decided to sell them all and use the funds to buy some games I’d been eyeing for a while. After selling everything, I had about $120 in my Steam Wallet. I remember happily browsing the Steam Store, ready to pick out some games, but I kept asking myself, "Do I really need this game?" Every time, I couldn’t come up with a good enough reason, so I ended up buying... nothing.

A few days later, I was still sitting on my Steam Wallet balance when I decided to check the Steam Market again. While browsing, I had an idea: what if I invested all my wallet funds into one specific item and waited for its value to rise? I know, call me an entrepreneur xD. That's when I decided to buy around 700-800 Falchion cases.

Fast forward 4 years, and I just sold those 700 cases for about €1.20 each, netting me around €700! With that, I was able to purchase the 1 TB OLED Steam Deck, and honestly, it feels like one of the best investments I’ve ever made!

So yeah, that's the story of how I got my Steam Deck for (almost) free, and I’m beyond happy! :D

Original Title: My first Steam Deck comes tomorrow and I'm so excited. I'm poor so I waited for the bet deal and the 512GB LCD for 320 USD was it for me. I know the OLED is better but for my budget this was perfect of me.

Been watching videos and plan to install Decky and a ton of other add-ons and scripts plus have a 1TB Samsung SD card coming. Any other recommendations?

Hi

Did anyone try the demo of Metaphor: ReFantazio on the steam deck? Does it work? Thank you for sharing your experiences.
