Halloween is coming and I want to play something spooky. What's everyone playing this October?

Since I've bought my SD the games on my backlog have been slowly been chipped away. How many of you had a similar experience and how much of you library remains in the void?

If anyone hasn't seen, the current humble bundle is full of games great for Steam Deck.

The Ascent is one of my Steam Deck faves and looks phenomenal (just whatever you do, do NOT turn on DX12!)

(I'm still in chapter one)

I love CRPGs and I remember being pretty bummed out to hear that Warhammer 40k : Rogue Trader ran pretty bad on the Steam Deck at release.

I bought it last week, planning to play it on my laptop for a better experience. And thought I might as well try it on the OLED to make sure myself that it runs okay.

I have to admit I was pretty surprised at how well it ran. I was expecting sub 30 FPS with heavy upscaling. They do have a steam deck graphic preset, but I found it too choppy. Here are my recommended settings for quality 30 fps and FSR turned off :

  • Resolution : 1200:800
  • Volumetric ligting quality : low
  • Particle systems lighting : off
  • Particle systems shadows off
  • Shadow quality : medium
  • Texture : High
  • Depth of field : off
  • Bloom off
  • SSR : off
  • HBAO : off
  • Film grain : off
  • Antialiasing mode : SMAA
  • Antialiasing quality : high
  • Footprints off
  • Crowd density : Sparse

On the OLED you get 2 hours of battery life with these settings at full brightness with a solid consistent 30 fps so far. I haven't seen any dips but the game is pretty long and I'm only at 12 hours gameplay so far mostly on the deck.

Anyway just wanted to share my experience as I was pretty surprised because when the game first launched I only heard that it was a pretty unplayable experience. I can say that's not the case so far.

Hello everybody! Noah from SteamDeckHQ here. Both Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero and Metaphor: ReFantazio's reviews dropped today, and that includes ours! We took a look at Steam Deck performance for both games:

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Review

Metaphor: ReFantazio Review

Sparking Zero does have some issues. It is playable, but needs a constant 60 FPS or else it will slow everything down. It can hit it for the most part with compromises, but it isn't perfect.

Metaphor is more consistent, especially after ATLUS patches, but there is still a little testing we need to do. We will have a full assessment for the game in a couple of days, but for now, we can say that 30 FPS with solid quality settings should be possible throughout the entire game.

Our full reviews on the website contain more detail and screenshots. And I will be active here for a bit, so if you have any specific questions, comment on this post and I will respond!

Thank you guys!

I saw it while doing my duty as a super earth citizen and voting for helldiver's 2 as best multiplayer game lmao

I voted for steam deck and thought maybe y'all wanted to partake in the vote of y'all care about it all. Obviously it's a dumb little award at the end of the day but I just voted and I'm spreading the awareness cause honestly this device is damn cool. Here's the link if anyone is interested in voting
