So I was playing a game where new updates comes in the form of DLCs, and there's like a million of them, each of them is about half the price as the base game itself. They add up to hundreds of dollars very quickly.

After discovering content in-game that are supposedly from a DLC I don't own, I went into the game files and found that all of the content is there in the base game, but often locked behind a have "have_dlc" check. So I came up with a python script that replaces all of these "has_dlc = yes" checks with "always = yes", and unlocked everything. My world has opened up.

The devs most likely know about this and how easy it is to bypass, but still, I'm quite proud of what I have done. It's definitely in breach of ToS though. I wish more games are like this.

Hey,

Have you ever heard about iPod Clickwheel Games ? Those games were in sale on the iTunes Store starting 2006 then Apple delisted everything in 2011. The only way until very recently to play those titles was to use the 20/56 partial cracked games archive that were properly decrypted in 2006 and only the iPod Video is able to run a Custom Firmware to accept those unsigned binaries to run, which excludes Nanos and Classics.

Even legitimate purchases can be screwed in this affair if they lose the game files or their Apple ID because Apple did not offer any kind of redownloads for this content (compared to iOS apps which can be redownloaded if necessary). And since those games can be almost 20 years old at this point, many legitimate purchasers lost their iPod, or access to their mail address, or use a different PC that the one they've used 20 years ago.

I built a virtual machine that act as an infinite offline distribution center of authed games so everyone can transfer again the games to any kind of Clickwheel iPod (including Nanos and Classics !). 44/56 games (80%) are now preserved for everyone. There's a lot of goated games that deserved preservation, like Phase by Harmonix Studio (which is an official clone of Guitar Hero) or Peggle by PopCap Games (did you know that this game cured depression ? ).

The Virtual Machine tricks iTunes that it is running always in the same PC, which keeps the games always authed even if the Virtual Machine is running on a completely different host environment ;)

Also, since that DRM was designed 20 years ago, it was designed without permanent Internet connectivity in mind which means that it does not need to phone home to send the games to any new iPod. I take advantage of this by distributing the Virtual Machine as fully disconnected from the Internet since it is not needed to have any kind of Internet connectivity for the distribution to happen.

Everything is available freely on GitHub for everyone:

Feel free to star + follow the project.

Apple also did not want their clients to play games on a single device coming from more than 5 Apple IDs, but the community found a bypass that I documented to play all games anyway on same device even if games are coming from much more distinct accounts than 5.

Also, if you still own the games files (or an iPod who still has the games you've bought back in the day), you can help at preserving the missing ones on the virtual machine with me so future generations will be able to enjoy those hidded gems forever.

Here's the list of missing games:

  • Bubble Bash

  • Cake Mania 3

  • Chess & Backgammon Classics

  • Lode Runner

  • Naval Battle

  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Aegir's Fire

  • Real Soccer 2009

  • Star Trigon

  • Sudoku v1.1

  • Tamagotchi 'Round the World

  • Tiger Woods PGA TOUR

  • Trivial Pursuit

  • Wonder Blocks

Thank you for your attention and happy iPod (retro)gaming ! :)

Like I get it, I don't really own any games that I purchased on Steam, I just purchased a license that allow me to play that game. But if I pay FULL PRICE for a game license only for the game publisher to remove contents from that game due to music licensing issue is really STUPID. Steam is a great platform, but the lack of feature that prevent games from auto-updating is annoying, especially with games that need modding because they're old & need community mods to function

Oh and don't forget about games that I have to wait for additional launcher to start beside Steam to actually play the game. Fck you Rockstar, I have to pirate GTA 4 that I purchased on Steam a year ago so I don't have to deal with your shitty launcher & break my modded game when Steam decides to update GTA 4 for no particular reason.

What's the point of being a legal customer when piracy just give you a better experience?

So I decided to pirated some others AAA games I bought on Steam, feel great when I just have to click the exe file and play.

Obviously, whenever you download a game of dodi, fitgirl or whatever else, you can delete the compressed version after you install. As a data hoarder though, I like to keep them. I currently have 231 games on my hard drive and counting, funnily enough, some people have even offered to pay me to borrow my hard drive and get the games they want. My question is, do y'all like to delete your games, or keep em archived.

Youtube is requiring me to sign-in in order to watch any videos.

"to confirm you're not a bot"

This is on browsers (Brave, Chrome, Firefox). I like to watch some videos in incognito mode in order to not fuck up my algorithm. Now I cant because it's requiring a sign-in.

Any way around this? I mainly use Brave with Ublock origin

EDIT: SOLVED. It was the VPN IP range. Thanks guys

Original Title: FMHY created an extension called FMHY Safeguard that tells you whether a website is starred, safe, unsafe, or potentially unsafe based on their filter list / megathread. I think this will be extremely helpful to newbies that just started pirating.

So, from what I understand, once the VPN is up and running the key is to slave qbittorrent to the VPN through the built in feature in the torrent client.

But assuming that is all set up, that's really all you need to protect yourself from the dmca and potential ISP shutdown?

And from what I understand protonvpn is a pretty solid VPN service to use for P2P downloading.

I hate how well guarded this app is because you would never think it wouldnt work in bluestacks or mumu but turns out they are broken on android emulators. In fact its broken on non play store certified devices in general. But it is possible to get a working download IF you know how to crack the widevine drm. Yep would you believe this stupid app uses Widevine despite being very easy to rip the audio from a capture source in general. Since I cant crack widevine drm without losing a device (I don't even know how to do it in the first place it does involve a rooted android and a broken TEE) I would likely just screen capture the audio from a phone to a capture card.

Heres an example link I uncovered from the sql entry of android /data/data/com.nintendo.znba/databases:
