Plasma 6 Bugs

If you encounter a bug, proceed to https://bugs.kde.org, check whether it has been reported.

If it hasn't, report it yourself.

PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING HERE.

Developers do not look for reports on social media, so they will not see it and all it does is clutter up the feed.

Spotted in episode 108 ("Shrink Wrap"). I think it's KDE 2, judging by the icon. I don't recognise any of the software, though.

Unfortunately, this particular laptop was owned by Dr. Meridian, a manipulative psychiatrist who caused the suicides of a number of women in his care. Fortunately, Dexter deals with him good and proper...

I whole heartedly appreciate KDE devs for thinking of and implementing the Similar to this feature for widgets.

My favorite distro now defaults to Icons Only Taskbar which I hate because it does not let me see which window is running which tab/directory etc. Now all I have to do is right click on the widget and select similar to this option. It automagically changes into the normal task manager.

Thank you so much for this.

So recently, when I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3, which involves a lot of pressing alt, a system sound keeps playing every once in a while. I think it has something to do with alt+wasd or alt+mouse buttons or something, but I can't figure out what it is.

Anyone know what this could be?

Since I discovered the existence of global menu on Plasma, I've been searching for a version of Firefox that supports it. While I've found patches for it, I don't know if it still works and have the patience to compile it.

Kudos if it's in the AUR pre-compiled.

If you don't know what global menu is it just moves the toolbar to any panel you want like in the attachment.

EDIT: Compiled firefox-globalmenu from the AUR, turns out it doesn't work with wayland :(

MORE DOODLE!! https://archive.org/details/kdekatie AND INTERNET ARCHIVE IS WORKING YAY

Why has almost no one drawn Katie with a different outfit? [Also dont ask why I did a 4:3 canvas, because I don't know either lol] [Would appreciate feedback, I was kinda lazy with the blurred crowd...]

I have a big presentation coming up, and this is the first time using Linux and Libreoffice for this. I've been using KDE Connect for a long time for many different use cases, but never tested the slideshow remote before now. It works as expected on KDE 6 with Wayland, except for the pointer.

The pointer will only show on my laptop screen, and not on my external monitor. This is naturally where I will show the presentation, so this is where I would want the pointer to show. This is the case regardless of which display is set to be the primary monitor. Screen are set to "Unify outputs".

I found this post explaining the exact same issue from 2020, but there was never a solution to this.

Has anyone run into the same issue and know of a way to get this working?

Starting with Fedora 42 the KDE Edition will be at the same level as the Fedora Workstation Edition that uses GNOME.

Any news on when folks like me will be able to eject physical media without KWin crashing and restarting each time? Some of us still watch or rip physical media. :(

KDE Stack Overview video is out!

If you are an aspiring @kde@floss.social contributor this training is definitely for you. If you're working on a Qt application and wondering what KDE can bring to the table for you, it might be of interest as well.

I greatly appreciate the time spent on the Esperanto translations of KDE apps. Though I am not anywhere near fluent yet it really helps my studying to be able to immerse myself in this obscure language. I hope to contribute to translations someday if I manage to achieve fluency. Thank you!

Support Good People and Adopt an App!

Our developers are volunteers, but they still need funding to travel to meetings and events, take time off their day job to implement those crucial features, and buy or rent equipment and server space.

You can help: Adopt an App during our #fundraiser and give our contributors the resources they need!

Hi all,

I am looking for suggestions for a new laptop to run KDE on, but I want it to be amazing out of the box.

I have run kubuntu and neon on HP and dell laptops previously, and they are fairly good, but things like the GPU not being auto set up, or hibernate type features not working have made it a bit of a pain.

I think my main bugbear is the power management. My wife's macbook air can have the lid closed and it will wake up again a week later just fine. My laptop barely makes it overnight and get hot in the bag.

What are some good laptops to run KDE, where they have been fully integrated and have great power management?

The main ones I know of are slimbook and framework, but would love to hear some experiences if you have them.

Thanks!

SFSCon is this weekend in Bolzano/Bozen!

Watch KDE Eco's #OptGreen talk and join our BoF afterward. Let's begin organizing a global, unified campaign to raise awareness about Windows 10's end of support on 14 October 2025, the role software plays in driving #eWaste, and how independent, sustainable #FreeSoftware is a solution to keep those devices in use and out of the landfill.
