I've been using Nova Launcher and I love it. But recently I've started trying to put some distance between myself and "big tech". I've switched 95ish% of my apps to foss alternatives. But I'm hung-up on Nova because 1: it's great. And 2: I spent my hard earning $5 on it! Tell me why I should switch to your favorite launcher so I can reduce my dataflow to the big G! Please and thank you.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share my experience using Claude AI to create a Solitaire game in just a few hours. It was fascinating to see how AI can assist in programming and streamline the development process. I never expected to go from concept to a fully functional game so quickly!

The game captures the classic Solitaire experience with a simple interface and smooth gameplay. Plus, it's open-source, so anyone interested can check out the code and see how it all came together.

Here are the links to try it out:

I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on both the game and the use of AI in development!

Hey, I’m looking for different encrypting app to compartmentalize my different use cases (personal, work, school etc). So I’m looking for different app for each use case.

I’m currently using DroidFS for personal atuff. But cryptomator isn’t an option for me cuz it requirements. And I tried searching on fdroid on my own, but not all results show up. For example if search “encryption” FSDroid doesn’t show up for instance. That’s why I’m asking the forum to help out pointing to other good encrypting software in terms of privacy and security.

Also I have heard about openkeychain, can it encrypt files, image, videos?

I've been trying to get snaptube to work, but after the first little bit the download button for it disappeared, I re-download the app and re updated it many times, it came back for a moment then left again, it may be my fault

Is there another app that's a better idea to use?

People are getting enraged by every upcoming Android update. They are making it harder and harder to do open source/enthusiastic stuff on Android. They are doing exactly opposite of what they were supposed to do. They don't want you to Emulate, Virtuslise or Sideload. It is becoming a degraded version of iOS day by day. Atleast iOS got some AAA games in their arsenal. But what Android has? bloated adwares!

The only game that i liked was The Walking dead S1 and it's no longer available on play store! So i have to sideload it, but you can't do it too because Android will restrict access to /data and /obb folders.

If I'm trying to run Proot Linux distros using termux, Android will kill the process.

People chose Android because it had the freedom to do whatever the user wants. I don't know what is the purpose of the new high-end Android phone when it'll just run Instagram and YouTube. We will utilise nothing from our devices. Android doesn't have good games on their platform either.

Another reason why you shouldn't think open source=free

F-Droid - IzzyOnDroid - Github - Licensed under GPL-3.0

I am here again.

I was asked a couple of times and even Issue was created, so I decided to upload my app on F-Droid. A couple of things happened and now it is also on IzzyOnDroid! Thank you, who suggested it to me.

If you hear about this app for the first time, this is my initial post here.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask. If you have any suggestions, it would be nice if you would create a new Issue.

Thank you for reading!

Using UAD () has been amazing every single time except for this small discrepancy that I encountered.

While debloating my Motorola Edge 50 Fusion(No root, Hello Moto OS), I uninstalled a package called "com.motorola.coresettingsext" which was defined as the following on the GUI:

"Safe to remove(No Bootloop) but it's usefulness remains unknown"

As mentioned, there was no bootloop and everything seemed fine until I noticed that my refresh rate was locked at 90hz. This was strange because this device came with a 144hz refresh rate and moreso because in the sources that I had looked at while researching for a phone, 90hz was never an option to begin with.

I went over to Settings>Display to manually adjust the refresh rate but that option was nowhere to be seen. That's when I started restoring/enabling each package I had previously uninstalled only to notice that this "com.motorola.coresettingsext" not only removed the option from the Display settings, it also got rid of "Flicker Prevention" under the "Eye Protection" subsection and "Screen Record" from the "General" subsection.

I don't know how to reach the dev directly so I thought I'd make a post here to help out anyone else suffering from the same problem as me. I have flaired this post as "Application Support" just in case this catches their eye.

Hope it helps!

Edit: u/WhoRoger mentions that disabling this completely removes the sound and vibration section from the settings menu on G34 devices as well so watch out for that.

Hello everyone,

Please suggest some open-source alternatives. I have observed that WPS occupies a lot of space, so I'm looking for similar alternatives that offer basic features for reading PDF, Word, and Excel files.

Announcement on Mastodon:

Blog article with more info:

Already 1 out of 6 IzzyOnDroid apps are reproducible, meaning we can confirm from 1 out of 6 apps on IzzyOnDroid that the .apk the developer publishes matches the source code they released.

This comes just months after other security improvements at IzzyOnDroid:

I'm using heliboard with google's closed source library for swipe typing.

I see that 0 bytes of data is transmitted by keyboard after days of use ( )

Is this the perfect heist or Google is somehow still able to collect typing data because the library is in use?
