Big ups to Epic for finally updating the launcher and making it look more modern + smooth, I only today realized that as I reinstalled the launcher

The Epic Games store has been pretty generous in it's promotional strategy of giving away free games. It's given me exposure to games I otherwise wouldn't try, both AAA and indie. A lot of times if I liked a base game on an Epic Games freebie, I would buy the full Steam Version (ex: Hitman GOTY Epic -> Hitman 3 on Steam) because for a time I enjoyed having all my game achievements and activity logged there.

However I am starting to warm up to buying games on this platform as well. After playing Control on Epic Games as a freebie, I have decided to dive into the Remedy-verse by buying Alan Wake Remastered on EGS instead of the standard Steam edition. I also plan to play Alan Wake II on EGS to have (most) of the Remedy collection on there.

I honestly hope this platform continues to grow. I like Steam, but there needs to be healthy competition in the market. One aspect that I enjoy about Epic Games over Steam is that it doesn't seem to be bloated with community features, which can be a more refreshing user experience for casual games. Granted there are games on Steam that benefit from having stuff like a community workshop, but I may be more inclined to purchase more titles on Epic for it's more streamlined way of handling a game library.
