What else is everyone using to get music? Other than Soulseek.

After obtaining an injunction and an invasive search and seizure order at Canada's Federal Court, teams from Bell, Rogers, Disney, Paramount, Columbia, and Warner Bros. targeted the alleged operators of IPTV service SmoothStreams at their homes in Canada. The defendants were charged with contempt of court when they failed to comply with the terms of the order. Two years later, the defendants are paying a heavy price and the main case hasn't even started.

I've been using public trackers for the past 20 years, and never had a problem with them. I never got any virus or malware, and almost always found what I was looking for. What I couldn't find through public trackers, I'd find it with soulseek. So I'm wondering what are the actual advantages of using private trackers?

Hi guys! It's been a long while, and I still struggle with Deluge catching brand new releases of movies that just about everyone's downloading.

A bit of background, I have 1Gbps connection, and Deluge in headless mode (that's why I chose Deluge, for headless you get either Deluge or Transmission...AFAIK those are the only two supporting it).

So, whenever my -arr servers catch the latest release of the very latest movie or TV show, Deluge catches it, and faceplants it with a download error immediately. I can either "force check" or "resume". Either way (doesn't matter which), it will error again in a second or two. This struggle continues for a while of resume/error/resume, until it finally starts to download a larger chunk...for it to error again a minute or two later, after downloading several hundred MB. And then another section of constant errors. Finally, it will get stuck at the end at 99%, where it really needs a "force check" to find whatever data was corrupted, redownload that, and finish.

Any idea why this happens? Any way to fix/avoid it? I'm not sure deluge is connecting to fake seeders giving it corrupted data and it fails to catch/fix it. Any help would be very welcome. Thanks!

What are the best places to dl FLAC music?

Like really. Now I'm going to say that playing games, listening to music, watching shows/movies and even reading books is a bit of a luxury. It's a quality of life thing. But that doesn't always mean that each of those mediums have to be charged so damn much to even enjoy. Much less, the quality that gets shoveled out anyways with what we've seen.

What pisses me off the most with the entertainment industry, is how they expect you to buy the same things whether it's a different format or on a platform multiple times. Furthermore, they willingly take away shows, movies .etc on a reguar cyclic basis on streaming platforms.

When AnimeSuge went down, I felt a little lost and for once actually considered subscribing to Crunchyroll because AnimeSuge had the 1997 Berserk on there. Guess what? Crunchyroll and no where else had it. So much for the legal alternative, huh? By the way, yes I know of alternative sources so please don't recommend me those thanks.

And this is the thing with this fucking industry as a whole. They honestly have this mentality where if something is not available then it's "too bad, fuck you" or if something is broken or not working then it's just "BUY ANOTHER AT FULL PRICE!" because they look down at people making backups of their copies.

It's like, leave us the fuck alone. If something is not available anymore with absolutely no assured plans to bring it back for re-release and to be available on even streaming platform which leaves us to pirate - let it fucking be. What, are you going to make a shitstorm for people who buy movies and shows while thrifting? Surprised these fuckers haven't gotten to that process yet because of how god damn greedy they are.

ACCUMULATED RELEASE SIZE FOR August 2024

From the 53.238 scene releases, only 38.115 (72%) of them had file + size information.

They total to: 59.30 TB (62.175.979 MB) in 643 thousand files (642.850).

No idea about the size of the missing information, so the real value should be much higher.

I couldn't find any Hebrew subtitles for "Only murders in the building". I tried multiple releases by different release groups (on public torrent trackers) but couldn't find the subtitles I was looking for. I know it exists on OpenSubtitles, but it would be easier to find a release group that also includes subtitles for Hebrew instead of waiting for someone to upload them. I know that the Hebrew subtitles are available on Disney+Hotstar because this is the version in Israel, but I can't find them on releases from it either. Is there any way to get the subtitles without the need of private Israeli torrent trackers?

I used to have an account on the PB many years ago, but my credentials are no good anymore. I'd like to post some movie and TV show dumps somewhere, particularly that'll be indexed by Torrentio and searchable to debrid users, but I'm having trouble finding anywhere with open signups. I'm specifically uploading English media.

Many users bought Resident evil for iOS because it was working offline. Perfect for long trips. But a new update adds a mandatory DRM online check at start-up.

I wrote bought, but actually the word is rented. One day Capcom stops updating the games (and this is 100% guaranteed) and a few years later the "owner" gets "This app needs to be updated to run on this iPhone"

Meanwhile, people who pirated a cracked ipa, don't get any issue in playing the game offline. DRM exclusively hurts the paying customers.

If youve used Prowlarr, you might have experienced cloudflare blocking access to certain trackers.

There's a docker-based solution called cloudsolverr which automatically bypasses these cloudflare challenges by spinning up a headless chromium browser.

Main issue is it's heavy on resources (I have an rpi4b) and doesn't have an easy native setup (I've not had time to practice with docker stuff yet).

Is there a manual way for me to resolve these cloudflare challenges so I can add the trackers? It's mainly for public shit like 1337x just to fill out my access to TV shows where my other trackers fail or get rate-limited.

I'm not sure it's the "best" way, but it's a solid alternative, and receives rapid updates when YouTube moves to break things.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.today/post/15571129

I'm using this all the time myself. There is no login to YouTube required and it supports adding subscriptions and doing everything important you can do on YouTube.

And the best part is no ads whatsoever.

You know what I mean, the FLAC and MP3 releases that are the majority of the releases on any site that allows them. Does anyone use these? Instead of soulseek and premium app downloaders?

edit: How are you guys in piracy lemmy and don't know what "the scene" is? FFS. It is NOT the demo scene. It means FLAC bundles and MP3 bundles with names like Zatox-Overdrive_(Original_Mix)-(ITAL044D)-SINGLE-WEB-2024-AOV

Since Russia started to use DPI to block YouTube and other stuff, there arised a couple of solutions to fuck with it. I've come around this repository or, even better, the end of it's page for many cross-platform tools that may let you avoid DPI, and I've used some of them to prove they are working.

https://github.com/ValdikSS/GoodbyeDPI

They don't work for resources that are explicitely banned, it only undoes this one layer of blocking. As Russia didn't block YT (like Twitter) that's enough for that one usecase. It's no private VPN or something, but it may become useful in the future.

TGx down? (leminal.space)

https://torrentgalaxy.to

I don't want to jump the gun here, they had outages for maintenance recently that were misconstrued as a possible takedown. After Fmovies went down I guess I'm just a little antsy.

Joke's on me if the site is up again minutes after I press "send" 😬

Update: TorrentFreak picked up on the outage as well

I have a MIG Switch and a few pirated games, though I'm afraid it will ban my account, including games I've bought.

I don't use Switch anymore due to philosophical reasons, so it's probably not a huge deal, but it would probably still piss me off, because I spent some money there.

Do you think it could be mitigated by resetting the switch to the factory settings and never logging in?

I've amassed a sizeable hoard, nearly all encoded h264 or h265.

The space savings made by AV1 are attractive, but I don't want to move on it until after I've acquired hardware capable of AV1 GPU accelerated decode.

Even then, the cost of reacquiring some works has to be weighed. Storage space gets freed; but how often do I actually revisit some cherished items?

Anybody else having to make similar evaluations?
